Captain Donnie Benbow went 7 for 9 bonefishing this afternoon. All 7 of them he caught while poling his hellbay from the tower. It is hard enough to catch them from the front of the boat but from the poling tower is just as hard as it gets.

Hurricane ERIKA heading to Florida

With Hurricane ERIKA heading to Florida the fishing in the Florida keys has picked up the last few day. The only problem is the TV stations have scared off of the customers! I remember 10 years ago the powers to be chased everyone out of Islamorada and the rest of the Florida keys when hurricane IVAN was in its way. And guess what, it never came close, but business stunk for the next 3 weeks. Weather forecasters would never make it as fishing guides, because we have to produce.

  With the temp dropping down to the 50s in the morning the fishing guides at Holiday Isle marina and Bud Mary's marine followed the fish into the deeper warmer waters of the Everglades channels and had a outstanding day. Big Resfish, Snook black drum and many any sheepshead .

  Went out with my son Captain Donnie Benbow to do some December Bonefishing on the flats of Islamorada in the Florida Keys this morning. We got some great opportunity's to Flyfishing for the gray ghost and ended up catching 3. It was a great father and son sunday trip.

Bruce and I went fishing on a windy day down in islamorada. The snook were laid up in the shallow waters of the flamingo flats and we were able to hook up with some great fighting fish.

This is the mid November fishing report for Skins and Fins charters and guides.

  Flats fishing: Redfish and Snook up on the shallow water flats. On the calmer days we have been fly fishing for Permit and Bonefish. Also sharks and sawfish.

  Backcountry: Snapper fishing is still good. In the channels smaller Resfish, bleach drum, sea trout and Sheeps head.

Gulf fishing: Spanish Mackerel, sea trout , snappers and pompano. On the gulf decks big big redfish. What to give it a try ? Call 3953930363

Fishing report Islamorada, key largo, Florida keys

Islamorada fishing report-Skins and Fins Charters. 

Flats fishing- the bonefishing is starting to pic up. The winds have been low giving fishing fishing guides some great days on the water. Snook, redfish and permit have been solid as well. 

Backcountry fishing- the Spanish mackerel are turning on. Snappers, lots of small redfish, black drum and more.

Offshore/Deepsea-tjere are still some late season dolphin, tuna and some sailfish. The boys at Bud N Mary's marina have been catching daytime swardfish too.

Fishing report Islamorada, Florida Keys for Skins and a Fins charters and guides:

  Flats fishing: The water have been calm and the shallow flats hove been great. Big redfish and snook, permit and bonefish all are good. You can also sight fish for sharks.

  Offshore/Deepsea fishing: the Dolphin have slowed this week but the tuna are starting to turn on.

  Backcountry fishing: Snook are good and the season is now open. Lots of small redfish, and snappers. Sea trout is good.

  Eco tours/sight seeing: Thor temp is starting to cool and the birds are much more active. 

  Diveing: The divers operators from Bud N Mary's to Holiday have been busy with Lobster hunters.

  The fishing on the flats in Islamorada has been very good for big redfish. Using the flyrod or light spin is the best method. On the calmer days the the permit have been showing up along with some bonefish. I was lucky to spend a afternoon with my Son Captain Donnie Benbow of Skins and Fins Charters. Seened here with a 34" Red caught on a custom Donnie Fly.

  Out in the deep waters the gaffer size dolphin are still good about 26 miles out.

Islamorada fishing report in the Dlorida Keys- The Dolphin offshore still remain strong this week even after the Super Moon! All it takes finding the magic weed line of other floating junk a that's where you will fine them. 

  Flats fishing for Permit has been great! On the calmer days there great sport fishing have been spiking up all over the flats of Islamorada and the Florida Keys. In the backcountry if the Everglades the bigger trout and snapper have been starting to show up.

Big Permitt are being caught on the flats of Islamorada and the Florida Keys. This nice fighting flats fish was caught on Capt Donnie Benbow's of Skins and Fins Charters and Guides Hellsbay skiff this morning off Islamorada.

Every now and then I get some bow time on my son's boat Capt Donnie Benbow.

Today Donnie took me fly fishing for Redfish. Using a 10 wt rod and a special fly pattern and color the he tied, we off the fish a few late afternoon hours on some of Islamorada's most beautiful flats. The result was this nice 32" redfish and a 28" redfish seemed here on the fly. The Florida keys and Islamorada are knowened for there flats fishing for bonefish, tarpon, permit, snook and redfish. Monster Dolphin caught off Islamorada in the Florida Keys!

Captain Nick out of Bud and Mary's Marina in Islamorada guides his angler to a monster 57 LB Dolphin. This epic fish showned on display her by Sara. 

  The dolphin fishing has been great so far this season. Charter boat captains have been reporting a great catch from Key Largo to Key West.

  We came back from a great day of fishing for sea trout and redfish in the Everglades and a family of Manatees came to my dock slip and drank water off my motor. The offshore Mahi Mahi fishing in Islamorafa has been over the top so far this season.
